“Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog- it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the LORD wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” Otherwise you are boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil.”- James 4:14-16

Have you ever had a plan for your life and it’s not gone the way that you wanted? [Everybody raises their hands]. Have you ever been in that situation where you’ve realised that God has different plans for your life then you had for your life? It’s great because God’s plans are ALWAYS better than our plans.

Today I am writing my last blog whilst I work for The Greenhouse. The Sam Plan was to be here at The Greenhouse for a lot longer, to be living in Bournemouth for longer but the God Plan was to move me and my family on. My life is shifting gear and I’m heading to Northern Ireland for the next chapter; the next adventure of my life. It wasn’t what I was expecting to happen, but I know that God wants it to happen and so it’s good that it does happen.

What plans do you have for your life? Are they your plans or are they God’s plans? Perhaps it’s the idea that you’ll live in a certain place like it was for me. Or that you’ll have a particular job, maybe that you’ll get that mortgage on that dream house, or even that your Church would build a new building. What is it for you?

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans”- Proverbs 16:3

Rather than make our own plans we need to commit all of our plans to God, commit everything we do to God and he will establish what those plans are and He will fulfil His plans.

“But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of is heart through all generations.”- Psalm 33:11

We can be sure that God’s plans are better than our plans and that His plans stand firm forever. What plan do you need to give to God? What is God wanting to establish in your life today?

Also- no need to worry! I’ve left my role at The Greenhouse in good hands. We have recently recruited Amy who will be continuing in the role of Marketing Developer.

Sam Deakin works for The Greenhouse part-time as the Business and Marketing Developer. He loves most sports, is passionate about God's Kingdom coming to Earth, and eats more biscuits than anyone else in The Greenhouse team.
